Sue Bolton portrait on the go

Artwork by Fern Smith
Artwork by Fern Smith

Its is exciting I have been putting off doing a portrait of our ward Councillor Sue Bolton for about a year it was going to be a digital print maybe that will come too now – I wanted the essence and not the full active life of all her to do and doing list.  We are so lucky to have Sue as our ward Councillor. A big fan of her style of participatory democracy.

The gesso is down, the sketch done and a layer of white opaque water colour – its around 86 cms wide x 1100 cms  high. Adding colour tomorrow.

FernArtz_FernSmithFern will be presenting at  ‘Arts in the North’  This Saturday 20 June, 2.30 – 4.30 pm J-Studios, 50 Wheatsheaf Road, Glenroy

Community project by Fern Smith early 1990’s

Fern_Smith_1992_G_Swift-_20Community project was one of my early community projects that involved my art work (I did the design outline and assisted in mosaicking ). Five women and their children collected and broke tiles, pasted them on the wall. They had the creative license to use their colour and texture of  choice. Where the empty rectangle is lived a hot water system. FERN_SMITH_1992_G_Swifte_ Photographer Genevieve Swifte took the pics and kindly sent me a copies.

Redbubble and Fern Smith

A perfect spot for my backgrounds that lie behind the subject matter of my artwork. Or do they add weight to the story?
Anyway they can shine on Redbubble. What do you think?
